Exif MM * i , ASCII RAFFAELLO Sanzio (b. 1483, Urbino, d. 1520, Roma) Study of the Christ Child 1506-07 Pen and ink over lead point, 283 x 161 mm Ashmolean Museum, Oxford In certain instances Raphael carried over the entire compositional structure of the older masters' works, such as variations on Leonardo's pyramidal ordering. In others, he appropriated only particular details. This occurred in Raphael's intense scrutiny of the Christ Child from Michelangelo's Bruges Madonna. This drawing shows Raphael's determination to capture the swelling contours of the Child's twisting torso and weight-bearing leg, as well as the articulation of the opposite jutting thigh, with leg and foot in the process of stepping downwards. The repetition of the left foot in the drawing indicates the artist's concern with the motion of the foot and how to transform it convincingly for placement on the ground. --- Keywords: -------------- Author: RAFFAELLO Sanzio Title: Study of the Christ Child Time-line: 1501-1550 School: Italian Form: graphics Type: study Photoshop 3.0 8BIM gZ %G Ehttps://flickr.com/e/ZgKIQB%2FD6DI6pXNhCSENqW1Id8Elom3cLj0bMhwPD9A%3D C
